Jan 17, 2016- The taskforce of big three political parties and agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) has agreed to make the proposed political mechanism as constitutional body. 

“Differences between us have been narrowed significantly. We have agreed to make the political mechanism as constitutional body,” said Nepali Congress leader Mahesh Acharya, a member of the taskforce, after the meeting of taskforce on Sunday. 

Though, in previous talks,  there had been agreement to grant constitutional validity to the mechanism, at today’s meeting the taskforce have agreed to make the proposed mechanism as constitutional body. The body is likely to be mentioned in one of the annexes to the constitution as demanded by the SLMM. 

Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party leader and taskforce member Hirdayesh Tripathi said the talks were positive. He said the taskforce will meet again on Monday after the meeting of top brass leaders. 

The taskforce comprising leaders from the SLMM, ruling CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist) and the main opposition, Nepali Congress (NC), was formed to iron out differences to address the demands of agitating SLMM.
