Dec 23, 2015- Nicolas Cage has united to come a rare archosaurian reptile bone to the Mongolian government.

The Oscar-winning actor bought the theropod bataar bone in 2007, unaware it had been taken.

Authorities same he voluntarily united at hand over the bone when learning of the circumstances.

The Con Air star bought the bone for $276,000 (£185,000) from a Beverley Hills gallery that issued him with a certificate of genuineness.

According to reports at the time, he outbid old master DiCaprio for the bone.

The actor and gallery aren't defendant of any wrong doing.

Alex Schack, a publicizer for Cage, same the actor was contacted in 2014 by the Department of independent agency UN agency told him the bone might need been taken.

When investigators determined the bone had been taken illicitly from Mongolia, he united to present it back.

The bone are going to be came back to the US authorities so repatriated to Mongolia.

The US professional in Manhattan, Preet Bharara, filed a civil forfeiture criticism to require possession of the theropod bataar bone last week.

Since 2012, Bharara's workplace has recovered quite a dozen Mongolian fossils, as well as 3 full theropod bataar skeletons.

In 2014 US fossils dealer Eric Prokopi was imprisoned for 3 months for importation archosaurian reptile bones from Mongolia, as well as those of a theropod bataar.

Prosecutors in big apple represented him as "one-man black market in prehistoric fossils".

It is not clear if Cage's archosaurian reptile bone is connected to Prokopi.

The theropod bataar was associated with the theropod and lived some seventy million years agone. Its remains have solely been discovered in Mongolia.

Mongolia criminalised the export of archosaurian reptile fossils in 1924.
